(no subject) [Mar. 11th, 2009|06:56 pm]
Alright,so I take it no one is really interested in this then looking at the lack of replies, but whatever.

So I started my new job a week and a bit ago now. Basically I'll be working tuesdays and eventually later in the game do some overtime on other days on top of that.
The company I'm working now makes/calculates/rents and places scaffolding for building sites. And with that I mean professional scaffolding used to make huge buildings. It's a company with about 150 people working there and I'll be backing up the calculating/designing department.

Last week started out a little bit unprepared. I got in 15 minutes early and had to wait around a bit before I could start. The idea for my first working day was that I could go to a building site to see what components and parts the company has out there and what they're being used for. It was a very cold day, but it did give me a lot of insight on the things I should be drawing. I'm used to drawing machine parts, you know.. This is something a bit different.

Yesterday I went in for my second workday and it was pretty great. Even though I'm only in for one day per week, I've got my own desk and my own duel screened pc to work on. I've got a license to Autocad 2009 LT and a nice work atmosphere. All in all it all seemed pretty good from the start. I was a little bit worried to start with, cos it had been years since I even looked at Autocad and the last version I worked with was 2002. So to start my day off I was given a drawing and was meant to duplicate this. I soon found out that I was getting the hang of it really quickly and after an hour or looking and playing about I got to hear what's actually expected off me.

Basically the company works with a lot of the same parts that they have stored out at the back. In total they probably have about 200 parts. Ideally what they'd like to have is some sort of database with all of these parts in there, so they can just drag and drop. Paste all the standard components in an existing file in order to recreate new drawing much, much quicker than they can now. So yeah, I'll need to go and figure out how to make such a database, or toolbox, and from there draw all parts they have and put them in this database. Quite a good job, I'd say! I've been playing around a bit more and been looking at what stuff they have and it all seems really cool.

Yay, Vince got a job! :D

MUSIC FANS - Please read [Sep. 15th, 2007|12:32 am]
Alright, most of the people on my livejournal are from the Muse board and of almost all of you I know that you guys really like music. I remember not too long ago there was a thread on the museboard where everyone would make mixtapes for eachother. Back then I didn't participate because I was very busy at the time, but I thought it would be nice to do something like that here. In digital format, like.

My idea(stolen) was to have people reply here if they want to participate with a picture. I'll randomise everything up and everyone will get one picture to make a mixtape for. So you'll make a mixtape of something like an hour for someone else with the theme of the picture the person wanted a mixtape for. Theme's could be made by songtext, songtitles or just the way they make you feel. (dark song for a dark picture, whatever.)

Example )

When everyone's made their mixtape, they compress everything in a .zip or .rar file and upload it on yousendit.com or sendspace.com for their person to download.

Yay? Nay?
This is a public entry, so basically anyone you know should be able to subscribe as well, but I guess so long as we get a minimum of something like 5 people it'll be quite nice.

Woah, one week I won't post and tonight you're getting three posts in one night! Crazy!
